I want to set up secure VPN server on my MacBookPro so I can connect to it from work or a cafe and route my traffic through it. I don't have Lion Server, I've just got the regular Lion 10.4.7. I want to save money and use my own VPN, not pay $10 (or any money) for such service
Is this possible? Could someone point me to a tutorial or an easy, free (or open-source) VPN server application? |

Open port 22 on your router, enable remote login under sharing preferences (Make sure you have a good strong password) and then read up on ssh tunnels.
If you don't have a static IP on your router, you'll also need some dynamic dns service - I'm sure there are free ones around. OK, I have given up keeping this sig up to date. Lets just say I'm the guy that installs every latest version as soon as its available! |
