![]() Okay, technically I hit a few (very few) more in the course of a day/week/month. But barely. It's weird. I've condensed (compressed?) my "rounds" down to but a handful of joints I legitimately give two damns about. Not sure if that's more a reflection of me OR the glut of just absolute useless ("optional" might be a nicer way of saying it) shit on the Internet. And, no...I don't reveal the other five. Don't ask. ![]() |

Caveat: I've had a few (dozen), so I might be sharing more than usual. Factor that in before formulating any snarky, "who gives a holy flaming crap, Paul?!?" replies.
![]() Drew isn't the only one who can do this. At least I can spell "hockey" correctly. So I've got that going my way. |

Hm. I typed up a reply and then the forum ate it. Not going to type it up again verbatim. But the gist of what I was trying to say is that I feel like a lot of people have been telling me this over the past year or two. It is interesting because "About 6" seems to be the most common number as well. Strictly anecdotal of course and not really something you can derive much from but I would suspect there are some reasons for it and that those reasons have to do with the internet maturing and changing form along with the way information travels today compared to say 8 years ago. I mean, just a fer'instance: But today you're pretty much just as likely to see a 15 page thread on the Mars Rover on a bodybuilding or guitar enthusiast forum as you would on a science or technology forum, and the quality of discussion(assuming a large enough forum) is likely to be comparable as well. At some point, maybe it starts to look kind of similar. You don't _need_ to be an active participant in a forum for every hobby you have when so many of them converge in the OT section of any one at all.
Of course, could be a lot of things, and I'm sure it is. But suffice to say. I basically only focus on about 6 sites as well(really more like 4 if I'm honest) I might visit more like 12 in any given day, but in terms of attention or 'care', "about 6" is a lot more accurate. |

Some are event specific or annual, like Siracusa's OS X reviews at Ars, or 'swimsuits' at SI...
![]() Other times are stream of consciousness alt-click new tab link-wandering... At one point I had 173 tabs open :/ ![]() But if I winnowed the wheat from chaff seriously, I suspect my regular pattern would be a similar handful. Off-topic (click to toggle):

![]() Holy crap. Good to see you Burbs! I haven't been around much but I knew sooner or later the love of hockey would stir your mind and force you to return here, greatly anticipating next season's roster diversification. I wager at least 23 of those 173 tabs were hockey player profiles in preparation for the draft? Admit it; all these other threads are merely a summer diversion. ![]() "The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who don't have it." - George Bernard Shaw |

BTW Scates, I'm pretty much the same as you. I visit maybe 6-8 sites often, another 2-3 a couple times a week. The rest randomly as stuff happens in the news or life.

I go to the same 7 sites every morning, and it's only after getting lost while following interesting links that I end up on another site. Sometimes it looks good and I'll bookmark it, but usually I never go back regularly.
Sometimes I check my 7, find nothing new or interesting, and sigh, thinking "fuck there's nothing new on here". Which is kind of like looking at the first 2 channels on TV and saying the same thing. ![]() |

Same here. It got worst when I started to use Feedly. It gathers all article of the site I would check to present them to me in a very clean / clutter free way. Hope rss ain't really dying cause I don't feel like doing it manually
![]() Needless to say that porn is excluded of the site count ![]() |
