I have an HP laserjet 1300 connected to my airport extreme base station by usb. Is it possible to print to it from my iBook? How would I go about setting it up? My iBook is running os8.6 and is connected to the network with an ethernet connection.
I also have a Mac Mini and a PB G4 connected wirelessly that are already configured for the printer.

Out of interest, is there a reason that you're running such an antiquated OS?

I suspect (but don't know) that the OS will not be capable of doing what you need.

Yes, because the iBook arrived by DHL this morning, I got it from eBay. It came with 8.6 installed, I don't have the install disks for OS9, and at 300mhz I don't think OS X would be worth bothering with.

Oh, but 10.4 and 10.3 run fine on 300MHz. It works well actually. Certainly not as fast as I would really like it too, but that's more a function of the speed I'm used to now with the G4 and CoreDuo.

Here's an example of what my work for you. You'll likely have to try different variations, but it may just work! (Hope works same in OS 8).
