Since folks are showing iPhone 4S pics, here's one from my brother's girlfriend that she took during dinner at a great sushi restaurant in SF (Zushi Puzzle). The sushi chef Roger makes this kiwi sorbet from scratch:

Wow, nice bokeh. I'm a sucker for those kinds of night shots with the out-of-focus lights, especially when they're so colorful.

I am liking the iPhone 4S pictures. Thanks Goldfrapp and others. I am convinced it could more than replace your average point and shoot. I'd love to see even more please!

Meanwhile, not from a 4S, but from my aging but still pretty nice little Sigma, here is a photo of Tübingen as night falls :

Didn't see this question earlier. I didn't take this shot in Vancouver, rather out in South Delta on Westham Island (just south of Richmond).

Snapped this on the bank of the American River right next to the Sac State campus after class this afternoon. I rather like it, though I'm thinking I might have overdone the silhouette a bit...

The silhouette works for me.

Good stuff, all. And Chinney, it looks like you really explored the place in August!

Not at all. I think the biggest mistake is not quite doing the silhouette enough. Then it just looks like a bad lighting decision or bad technique. To make the silhouette work, it should really be black.

I was playing around with off camera flash the other day, and took this shot.

Nice shot of the Neckarmüller restauraunt! Reminds me of the few times I sat there in the beer garden with some friends.

I just came back from a nice vacation. We rented a vacation home in a forester's lodge (very nice, but with a lousy internet connection).
Here's the road to the lodge:

Nice shot! In the aquarium of the Stuttgart zoo, they only light them with blacklight...

Today, it's very foggy here, so I walked to a nearby lake:

I just got back from NASA's newest tour, KSC Up Close where you get to go inside the VAB which a visitor was not allowed to do since 1978. It was an awesome experience.

Inside the VAB.

The transfer area to High Bay 1 and 3 which were modified for mating the Shuttle to the ET and SRB's( High Bay 2 and 4 are still in their Saturn V state used for storage).

Endeavour being stored in High Bay 4. Almost feel a bit complete since I saw her last launch and I get to see her up close.....

The new service tower and mobile launcher platform for Constellation and assume the new SLS.

OPF-1( currently housing Discovery) and OPF-2( currently housing Atlantis)

Crawlers.

LC-39A( interesting fact I learned is that the FSS are the LUT's used for the Saturn V being repurposed. I thought it was a ground up new structure and the LUT's were scrapped).

LC-39B

First stage of the Saturn V.

Second Stage.

Third Stage.

Top of the Saturn V.

Enjoy the rustic look of the temporary Apple Store in SoHo (iPhone 4S + Instagram only):

The upper level looks almost like an art gallery:

While the lower level reminded me of NY fashion week in some unground studio:

Recently I acquired a pair of Converse All Stars and a couple of flash units. I don't have any light modifiers yet (suggestions welcome), so I shot one of my new shoes with a bare flash unit on each side, and a couple of fussily placed cushions to block some of the light from hitting the background (not very successfully, as you can see at the left).

The full-spectrum light of flash is just so damned nice to work with! I'm getting very rich, noiseless files from my D300S.

Are you using manual flash output or iTTL? Are you using the D300s's flash as the commander unit? There is a gadget from Nikon to block all but the IR light from the built in flash if you are. Switching to manual flash output is very liberating, if you have not done that already.

Very nice composition on the elephants; interesting shot.

The shoe is strangely compelling.

Among other shots I have liked this page have been the jellyfish.

Keep them coming.

You're pretty handy with an iPhone, GOLDFRAPP. Interesting, too, that almost all your photos are shot at night.

Chinney: I like your portrait in the TGV earlier in the thread, but it appears a bit green to me on my display. Perhaps the trees threw green light into the train?

PB PM: sorry for the late reply. I was using my brand new and seriously cool Elinchrom Ranger Quadra kit (with no modifiers yet, as I mentioned). I got a fantastic deal on the kit from Robert White in Scotland (great dealer).

Here's a setup shot, taken by putting the wireless trigger in the LX3's hot shoe:

You can see my studio is a little rudimentary. But I'm hoping the Quadra will give me an unfair advantage in our next competition.

Here's a snapshot I took in Antwerp a couple of weeks ago:

Antwerp was interesting. Somehow it had escaped me that the city was the world centre of the diamond trade, so I found that especially fascinating. I hope to post some more photos later.

An iPhone shot (not from the 4S, just the plain old 4). We had our first snow fall on Thursday night, throw in some frost, fallen leaves and you get the image below.

Yeah, it appears a bit green to me too. I think it is the combination of the green from the greenery outside and the camera adjusting the white balance for the outdoor light even though there was a fair bit of flourescent from the lighting in the train. Or something like that. I played with the white balance before posting it here, but I should probably try a bit more before I finalize the shot for inclusion of the photo album for our trip.

After grabbing a free trial of Topaz Denoise, I decided it was time to look at some of my old ISO 1600 photos, which is pretty noisy on my D60. Here's a shot of a dragonfly that was cleaned up nicely. I will probably be spending $80 after the trial is up, to be honest .
