Hi...
I started Time Machine last night, for the first time after an erase and intall to Snow Leopard. I guess it's starting from scratch, with 257GB to backup (to a Time Capsule), and this morning, it's only half way there. Can I stop the backup, go and do some work elsewhere, and then come back tonight and start it up again? Will it start up where it left off (at the 110GB mark), or will it have to start all over again? thanks, Malcolm |

As long as you choose to stop the backup from the menu, it should start again where it finished off. I did it yesterday.

It will do its best to resume even if you just pull the drive's power plug from wall. It's pretty robust and error-resilient. Not that I want to *test* that, mind you.

thank you, both. I'll re-start it tonight, and hope it finishes then. (this is my first back up in SL, after an erase-and-install, so it's starting from scratch, and it's taking a loooong time; I'm doing it via ethernet, by the way).
Cheers, Malcolm |

Good luck! I've never done it by ethernet, but the calculations are the bit that takes the longest for me anyway
