Ran across something, thought I'd point it out for those having problems with the auto download feature for album art.
Every time I launched iTunes 7, it would start a search for missing art, and every time it would end up hanging on the same album. So I did a little poking around, and the album title included the characters [ and ], the square brackets. These are not valid characters to put into a URL. Since iTunes speaks to the iTunes Store via HTTP, it stands to reason that the data requests are being sent via URLs. Normally, I'd expect the app to escape the characters, but apparently it's not happening. Replacing them with parentheses and restarting iTunes gets past the offending album, and it completes successfully. (And, btw, it found a BUTTLOAD of art that had previously been missing on prior launches and searches.) So if you're having problems with this feature, search for [, ], <, and > and see what comes up, that might be the problem. I bet it also happens if they appear in the Artist name, for instance. Bug has been reported to Apple. |

Cheers. I was going to do the auto download tonight and I'm sure I have a few stray [ in my list.

I think this is probably more accurate, given how she keeps us in line...

Well, I finally got the album artwork search to work in my library. Unfortunately, a lrage portion of my library consists of independent stuff by my friends, so there's no artwork for that. I have to compose covers on my own.
And - I've found that the artwork search doesn't work on a manually managed iPod library. Am I correct? |
