....Sunny side up or down?!
I've just come off a 3 hour WoW session (pretty low in the WoW scheme of things) and just felt the back of my 24" Alu 2.8Ghz iMac. The top edge above the screen is pretty hot (not unusual I've discovered) but the back black plastic is actually too hot to touch for more than a few seconds! Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not too worried in the short term (the fan extractor strip is running nicely - although not as much as my old 20" iMac would have been, but it is MUCH more quiet to balance that out). But I think I recall that in physics 101 electronic component life will be shortened dramatically if they constantly run at high temperatures. Is that right? For any other 24" owners, as you look at the iMac it's the top left corner at the rear that is really hot. Would anyone be worried by that? |

I think the point is for the plastic to get hot and not the electronic components. I wouldn't worry about it too much, really.
