I have a 20 gig 3rd Gen/ Win XP. My Ipod is Full. I formated it. It's still Full?? I used my iPod as a harddrive to transfer files. But now that my music libary is almost 15 Gigs. there seems to be a 15 Gig "reserved for music" setting on my ipod. How do i remove this.

Could you explain a little more clearly? I'm not 100% sure I get what your question is.

Well i have a 15 Gigs music libary in iTunes 6. I have a 3rd Generation 20 Gig generation iPod. Im using Win XP. I also use my iPod as a hard drive to transfer files from work to home. I tried to copy a 4 Gig file but didn't have room, so i formatted my iPod. When i tried to copy the 4 Gig file on to my now formatted ipod it said "The disk in this destination drive is full. Insert a new disk to contine". But I have over 18 Gigs free. I even tried to do an iPod restore.

15 Gigs is somehow being reserved. I tried to figure out how to turn off this option or get past it ?!?

That's strange because there is no "option" to turn off. You said you did a restore, right? Maybe you need to select "manually manage songs and playlists" in iTunes for the iPod. It may be that because you've got 15 gigs of music and the iPod set to automatically sync that you're not having enough space. I'd try that and see.

But there is no option or setting to change to alter the amount of space used for music versus data (this is unlike the Shuffle).

If it's not red and showing substantial musculature, you're wearing it wrong.

I figured it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Format using NTFS. I suspect it will work as long as you don't format in FAT32. Apple does something weird to reserve space for your itunes libary. When im done i can reformat in FAT32 (takes 2 minutes), Restore (3 min) and replace my libary (1 hour)
