Hey All,

Quick question. A friend of mine (windows user) just got a new 5G ipod. She wont be able to install iTunes on her current computer. If she gave me the iPod, and I loaded it up with content using my Powerbook, will her PC still be able to 'talk' to it, once she get's it working down the road?

One reason I ask, is that, when I got MY new 5G iPod, I looked in the "about" submenu, and at the very bottom, noticed that it said "Windows". After I hooked it up to my Powerbook for the first time, i later noticed that the "windows" entry seemed to disappear.

Does that mean, that once it's been hooked up to a Mac, you can't ever connect it to a PC anymore?

no but once you go mac and then switch to a mac or vice versa, you have to reformat the iPod, its like a harddrive, it has to be reformatted

I didn't have to change my Mini when I got my Mac. I synced it on both the old PC and iBook everal times and it didn't do anything wrong.

i was under the impression that you can use iPods as a portable hard drive for files but you had to eigther reformat or software restore from another computer to use it through itunes on that computer.

I was halfway through writing a response, but I'll link some of Apple's tech articles instead (straight from the horse's mouth!).
