I know it has been out for awhile, and I need a larger format photo printer. I am in no rush but if it is getting updated with in the next 6 months I will hold off. Any word?

Have you looked at this one:

I can't say much about it but I've been wanting it for a week or so now.

They did release a newer printer that holds 8 ink cartridges, but like the 2200, it only uses 7 of them at a time. The 2200 has been a hot seller for epson and the fact that the price went up $50 leads me to believe they are not coming out with another soon. Just guessing.

^^ One more quality post from the desk of Ebby. ^^

The Canon looks good, I will have to check it out. The camera stores around Santa Barbara have been dropping the 2200s by $50 or so. These are the big stores like Calumet and Samy's. I also heard they were on sale at Cosco for $499. Those are pretty good deals.

I have no information or reason to believe Epson will replace the 2200 in the near future. It's still the best 13x19 printer out there and is very popular with photographers.

Epson DID release an even more capable printer than the 2200, and which prints up to 16x20, but the Sylus Pro 4000 is almost $2000 (to say nothing of the ink costs). It was designed to replace the completely outdated 3000 model and compete in the same space as the 5500 as well.

Epson pretty much hit the nail on the head with the 2200, so I think it's going to be their bread and butter at the 13x19 price point for another year or two at least.

I recently bought the Canon i9100 and I'm pretty happy with it.

It was discounted due to the intro of the i9900. I looked at the i9900, but it seemed that I was paying more for a digital camera slot I'd never use and the privilege of buying two more ink cartridges than the i9100.
