I have been watching the first 2 seasons of Knight Rider recently and I realized something, KITT was pimped out. He had an onboard videogame system, he had GPS navigation, video conferencing, night vision, automatic parking, voice activation, Nitros etc..
but seriously, KITT was a look into the future, the guys who thought about all this stuff were really creative..

Well dang. The Last Starfighter was in 1984 and Back To The Future was in 1985. K.I.T.T. predates them.

However, you're forgetting some MUCH OLDER pimped autos!

Little Deuce Coupe, 1932-model car sung about in 1963 (not to mention all the other cars the Beach Boys sung about on that album!):

Flying flubber-powered car from the Absent Minded Professor, a Model T (1908-1927 car) in a 1961 movie:

The ultimate, though, would have to be Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which could also fly (1968):

Oh, also, I'd say Lady Penelope's Fab 1 is pretty pimped:

From the straight ricer category though, they had cars with NOS in the original Dukes of Hazzard TV series.

Nitrous being labeled "rice" already? Pff... nitrous has been on dragstrips and in tractor pulls for probably longer than I've been alive.

KITT did have some of the most extensive electronics I've ever seen on a car in prime time TV, though. Don't forget the Batmobile, though.

Moogs, you do realize that it's from a kiddies' movie, right?

Uh... no. I didn't realize that, being the out-of-touch old man that I am. Still you can't deny seeing such a thing with the un-pimp master would be funny.

James Bonds' Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger (1963):

  • Front and rear extending over-rider rams.
  • Front firing .30 calibre Browning machine guns behind the front indicators
  • Retractable tyre slashers
  • Retractable rear bullet proof screen
  • Radio telephone concealed in secret door compartment
  • Radar scanner in racing type wing mirror, tracking screen in the cockpit
  • Passenger ejector seat - roof panel jettisoned just before the seat is fired
  • Oil slick ejector from nearside rear light cluster.
  • Triple spiked nails (calthrops) from the offside rear light cluster.
  • Cartridge for smoke screen released through the exhaust pipes.
  • Revolving number plates (BMT 216A - UK, 4711-EA-62 - France and LU 6789 - Switzerland)
  • Armaments draw under front driver seat
  • Bullet-proof front and rear screens.
That would be perfect for commuting in L.A.

I really thought Fred Flinstone has the first pimped-out car. I mean stone wheels? You can't even buy those anywhere today!
