http://tv.yahoo.com/news/ap/20060512/114742104000.html

Kinda strikes me as a bit tacky. Apparently he's got some pay-per-view show where he's doing the Ashton Kutcher thing, with video pranks (minus the celebrities, humor, viewership, etc. of course).

Supposedly he did this whole thing "for no money". Yeah, right...he can't say he did, otherwise he'd have to start making good on that civil suit judgement.

I just hope this little side escapade isn't taking too much time away from his quest to search for the real killers.

Such damaged goods, this man.

It's interesting how some people (Hugh Grant, Robert Downey Jr., Eddie Murphy, etc.) can bounce back after major scandals or PR disasters; while others (Simpson, Boy George, Tonya Harding, etc.) can't. I guess charm, talent and personality can truly override shitheadedness and idiocy.

"A bit tacky"? He MURDERED TWO PEOPLE, got away with it, and a decade later he pulls this stunt?

That'd be like bring in a Vietnam veteran and having him reenact My Lai in a lighthearted, humorous way. This is beyond tasteless.

I was being understated/sarcastic in my "a bit tacky" comment. But I didn't want to come off as a raving nutball, right off the bat. I prefer to build up to it...

But seriously, he just seems to step in it and always say or do things that must tear at the heart of the people left behind who knew the victims.

Graceless turd.*

Naw, don't worry pscates, I know you were being judicious. You can leave the enraged replies to nutjobs like me.

You might be a bit of a nutjob, but your first post was spot on.

Really, what's happening to this world? Who would produce a program tongue in cheek about a double murderer? That's some bad karma right there (to say the least). I would face assault charges just to spit in the face of the nutha fucker who thought this idea was fit for production.

How do you think the murder victims' families feel about this...

It's pretty sad that someone would actually agree to produce this murdering asshole's idea of a joke. Rubbing it in that he got away with a double murder. Jesus.

Really, words really can't describe just how majorly fucked up this is. Amazing that he is so classless and clueless to actually think this might be funny, and even more amazing that he could actually get people on board with him to produce the thing.

Not that we can do much I guess, besides all praying for his swift and painful death.

Personally, my prayer is that he gets a leather glove caught in some heavy machinery, pulling him in and severing his jugular. He tries to drive to the hospital, but the transmission in his SUV jams and it's stuck in low, so all he can do is drive down the road at 15 mph and he bleeds out just as he coasts through a red light and under the wheels of large concrete truck.

murbot hits on something: I've come to expect this type of thing from Simpson himself, but are others so star-struck - or desperate for work - that they'd sign on as a sound operator or camera man for this kind of deal?

I know I couldn't.

"Oh cool...a freelance editing gig! Sure, I'm interested! Wait...it's with who? And it's about what? Uh, I'm gonna have to pass on that. And you can tell Mr. Simpson that he can go jump in a lake".

It is nice to know that some people will still hold tight to thier values when something like this comes along. This guy just makes my skin crawl. How could anyone want to work with this guy. Just imagine being a nice attractive white woman whose husband was the sound engineer. I bet she didn't drop by to surprise her hubby while he was working on this project.

If I were starving or about to get evicted, who knows what I'd do? I'm not trying to paint myself as some ultra-noble, perfect being (goodness knows I'm not). But I certainly don't think I could align myself with him just for a "extra, side money" endeavor. Or because I was "a big football fan" or whatever.

I'd have to be really desperate and hard-up for income...and even then, I still might not be able to sign on (that little voice in my head that tries to keep me grounded and walking a straight line would kick into overdrive, I'm sure).

I'd be ashamed for my friends and family to know...especially since those around me and close to me have known my feelings on this man and those awful murders (and the circus of a trial that ensued) for over a decade now.

My Mom would smack me in the head and my new name among my friends would be "Sell Out Whore".

I know, I know...many here might chime in with how he was tried in a court of law, judged by his peers and found not guilty. And that he should be treated as such. But that's sooooo tough to do, for so many reasons...

He's certainly in a hard place: truly a pariah (and in L.A./Hollywood, that really takes some special kind of talent!), yet even if he could get consistent, decent work, he'd have to sign much of it over because of the money he owes in the civil suit.

So I guess the rest of his life involves going around, scrounging for cheeseball gigs like this, yet not making a big show of anything he might earn from it. Even if he hit the lottery and won a few million bucks, he couldn't really enjoy it...he'd have to give it to Mr. Goldman and others, wouldn't he?

Ouch!

In some ways, I wonder if he might've been better off getting convicted in the criminal trial and just going to the can for 10-20 years or whatever. He'd be Manson-like celebrity (granting occasional interviews and so forth), and I'm sure he'd be looked up to in the joint by many. And, upon his release, you don't think he could've named any price for an interview or book/movie deal?

Not only that, but the general public would feel as though he were being properly punished and might even let up on him a bit (goodness knows we're a forgiving culture). The way it is now, however, I don't think he'll ever be forgiven or viewed in any sort of likable way. He seems to - knowingly or not - kinda rub people's noses in it all. That's not helping him.

He's a mess.

Or maybe the party involved are of same vibe as he is?

Seeing what Hollywood has spew lately, I've come to believe that everyone there must be no-good scumbags who is interested in high life, full of fast girls, booze and drugs and lot of parties.

According to the Wiki page on O.J. Simpson (and I do know that wiki pages are not necessarily accurate):

Quote:
A 2000 Rolling Stone article reported that Simpson also still makes a significant income by signing autographs.
Significant income? From autographs? Who'd pay good money for this guy's autograph... killers in training or what?

All those retired athletes and celebrities can go to those conventions and trading card shows, sit at a table with a Sharpie for a few hours and probably rake it in. All kinds of people will show up, I have no doubt!

And in this eBay era we're in, I suspect most people standing in line aren't interested in getting an autograph for themselves as much as seeing how much some twitch on the other side of the country will bid for it.

I saw a mini-documentary about him a few years back, kinda following him around. I was astounded at how many folks were still ga-ga over him, and just acting as though none of that other stuff ever happened (LOTS of women too, all ages and backgrounds).

I was like "ohmigosh...RUUUNNNNNNN!"

But people are star-struck doofuses, I guess.

"But it's The Juice!"

Nothing really shocks me anymore, I'm sad to report.

Surreal.

This fuck needs to die a painful death immediately, and absolutely so do the TV producers who agreed to put this murdering psychopath on television, for his own benefit no less (not getting paid my ASS).

Sometimes I hate that I live in a country where so many people abuse the freedoms they're afforded, all in the name of profit. I'd like to think the vast majority above such things, but alas nothing surprises me anymore either. I've lost nearly all faith when it comes to giving people the benefit of the doubt. If these dicks didn't think they could make money on it, OJ would still be playing golf (where at least we wouldn't have to think about him). The Goldmans have no such luxury.
