Hi All,

I have a new MacBook pro purchased a few months ago. Recently I've been having some problems with the battery. Whenever the MBP is unplugged, and I close the lid, when I reopen it, it thinks there is 0% battery life left, and goes to sleep. Once I plug the power adapter in, I can get it to come on, and it says it's charging. When I remove the power adapter, the battery meter goes to a much higher percentage (what it really should be).

Anyways, I've calibrated the battery twice (beginning to become a pain). Any ideas?????

Thanks,

Chantman

The first half of your post reminds me of some symptoms I've read about recently. Check the physical condition of your battery. Is it starting to bulge/swell?

I've read about that swelling thing, but never really thought about it. I tried to put all of the bad press about the MBP out of my head since it's my 2nd ever Mac. I do however notice the screen "whine" with my MBP

Anyways, I've inspected the battery, and it seems to be fine in terms of size. I don't notice any swelling or bulging. I do notice though that the case "metal" right above the lid release button is bulging out slightly. If you look at it from the top, you can see it sticking out a lil bit. I'll try to get a pic for later. It's directly in the center of the notebook.

Should I make a call to AppleCare?

TIA,

Now, a cool little symptom... The battery icon has an X through it, and when I click on it, it says "No batteries available"
I feel special since it's not plugged in... I guess I'm transferring power to it through osmosis.

Yep, definitely Applecare time
