cant install itunes on windows xp

Hi
ive just bought a new black 30 gb ipod

problem is its empty because i cant install itunes.It gets so far then an error appears saying instalation of quicktime has failed due to code 3
error?????

when i try and open itunes it says itunes cannot run because required files are missing..??

please help

I presume you're installing from the CD-ROM you received with your iPod? There may be something borked with the CD itself, perhaps. As an alternative, you can download the latest version of iTunes from Apple's site at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.

By the way, what kind of computer do you have (PC or Mac)? What operating system?

Have you tried downloading the software from apple's website like the person said above? If that doesn't work this came up when I googled it. Sorry to link to another forum but the solutions sound reasonable and this is a PC question so I figured it was OK. Hope this helps!

The PC needs as a min 256 meg of ram for itunes to work correctly and also allow QT to install.

I personally use the downloaded version as I have never had any problems whilst using it on either a real PC or via VPC and windows XP Pro
