Apple airs new Hip Hop TV ad
September 13 - 20:59 EDT** Apple has begun airing yet another new telelvision commercial for iTunes and iPod. This spot, entitled "Saturday Hip Hip," features the song "Saturday Night" by Ozomatli. Like the previous ads, the new spot features silhouetted dancers with iPods in front of vibrant background colors.

From www.macminute.com

Ok, this is getting ridiculous now, I thought the VMA's would be the last we would see of the silhouette advertisements for the iPod and iTunes. Maybe this ad will be running in conjunction with the BAD news of the Beatles lawsuit?

Other than that, I don't know what would possess Apple to keep running these ads, I mean they are WILDLY popular and responsible for helping the iPod's mindshare and marketshare, but REALLY NOW! (British voice)

Where is the creativity? This is beating an old horse, if not a dead one.

Maybe Paul IS on to something in terms of how CEMENTED Apple is in their ways. Jesus, maybe I'm just antsy because of the last few threads where everyone is telling me I'm crazy. But now, I'm not so sure that you guys arent wrong.

I'm going to go now, tuck my tail between my legs and weep.

lol

I mean this is a good ad as far as the silhouette ads are concerned, but still....how many of these have there been? 400?

I'm tempted to press the roll eyes smiley.

Weren't you the one complaining apple didn't advertise much? I know you meant the Mac but, this is apple really advertising. I see 4-5 dell commercials every 1 hour. I don't even see apple commercials though.(I must be on the wrong channels at the wrong time) I applaud apple for the advertising the ipod. In my opinion apple put out new ads for the ipod to slow. I guess they are making up for lost time.

At this point, I think they should find a new schtick. Look how the Steven Dell ads eventually got old.

Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that they are advertising and pushing the iPod but now that the iMac is shipping, why not honor the accomplishment with an advertisement for it?

Not yet. If it's barely shipping, and I think only some stores are receiving them right now, why advertise now, only to have people go out to their local Apple Store/Compusa and not see one?

Yea, the silhouette thing is getting a little bit tired. But that said, I think this is the one of the best ones yet!

I'm pretty sure apple knows when things are getting stale, They have never been a company to ride trends to the ground, they let the posers do that for them after they've moved on.

Like that South Park episode where Timmy and Jimmy join the Crips.

The minute one of those silhouettes gets busted for weed...
I'm sure they'll be canned as spokesperson like Dell dude was (bad influence).
Seen Ellen Feiss lately? Stoners tend not to make good salespeople... unless its for munchies.

Until then, they're distinctive and seem to be successful, so why change 'em?

I'm talking about how things can get stale in relationship to their perceived immediate reaction in the market place.

The Cube was at first hailed as a wonder and a dream machine, beautiful and new. These iPod ads were at first a refreshing new campaign and have helped to increase iPod sales, but overusing them may lead to a stale marketing strategy.

Obviously the Cube failed because of price and limitations, but it did well at first, because it was cool. The iPod ads were cool and everything, but at this point they are getting stale and long in the tooth.

You truly don't think, Barto.

I did not say in any way, shape or form that the iPod would end up like the Cube, jesus. I was comparing the way the Cube was at first thought of as amazing, then it's popularity died down, just as the silhouette ads seem to be doing, in my opinion. Obviously the iPod is a success and not much could change that.

You fail to see the logic in my explanation? What the heck?

all you do is seek attention.

The iPod is a runaway success. It isn't stale, the marketing is working (clearly), Apple changes the ads to reflect on the current music trends, and christmas is coming up and they are going to sell more iPods than they could ever produce.

close this thread. it's heading no where but down.

I don't believe the cube was ever really seen as wonderful and amazing. Sure, maybe for the first 2 minutes before everyone got to the store and collectively said "holy $$?! screw that"

I said all of that, and I am not seeking attention. I am just sick and tired of the silhouette ads, and I think many people are too. They have been overdone at this point, there have to be other ways of advertising for the iPod and iTunes.

How do you compare an ad to a product? Explain that one, Chris.

Why didn't you just say that?

Noooooooo, you had to talk out of your ass about the Beatles, beating a dead horse, the Cube, trying to change the subject to the iMac...

Less is more (especially with you Messiahtosh) and you could have said only:

And made your point. Many people would still have disagreed with you (OH NOES!!!1!!one!!11) but everyone would be more civil.

It's partly the delivery, partly the attention whore attitude.
If you can't recognize that Barto is spot on comparing your later concise excerpt with your chip-on-the-shoulder posts earlier up, maybe a break is the best thing for you.

Seriously paul, me and you both. We'll go party. Cause I'm really resisting the urge to say "I told you so, Chris."

Whoops, I said it. I'm done with this thread.

Let me just use the break in the action to remind people of the "ignore" function available to all members.

If you find a particular member not worth talking to, and too annoying to stand reading their posts, I cordially invite you to check the little "ignore" button.

Great feature that has allowed many a forum to remain civil in otherwise uncivil times/threads. If you can't see the stupidity, it won't bother you.
