Looking for a new monitor to replace a defective 17" TFT.

Was thinking maybe a 19" widescreen.

Present monitor an Acer has a glossy finish which gives an excellent picture.

Have borrowed a 17" matt finish Acer picture is good but not a patch on old monitor.

Should i stick to glossy finish.

Any recommendations.

Thanks peeps.

I used to be undecided.....But now I'm not so sure.

Dell's 20" **07-series monitor. (In other word, the "blah blah blah-2007," in this case.)

It's excellent. Dell's 20"+ widescreen monitors all are. (Their smaller LCDs are relatively hit-and-miss, IIRC.)

You're not going to find many 19" widescreen monitors - for whatever reason, that's a "full-screen" size. You'll find a plethora of 20" ones, though.

But... their not.

Their cheap and pretty good. But there are most definitly alternatives, like Acer or Samsung. And most of the time, Dell DOESN'T have the best specs. Look on newegg.

That said, you were right the first time, g. Acer. My friend has one and loves it, and they get shining reviews on newegg.

Just purchased a 24 inch by Benq, couldn't be happier. It was about 40 bucks more than the Dell offering, but has better quality for sure.

20.1" widescreens from dell can now be had for $289. It doesn't have the extras (hub, multi input). Very nice display for a great price. This is with free shipping (E207WFP):

note, the dell has 1680x1050 resolution, DVI w/ HDCP and 5ms response time.
