Hello all,
does anyone know if they sell replacement dvd drives for the imac G3 400 speed. My current one requires me to jam a cd or dvd in and when trying to eject it, the cd would come out just enough for me to extract it with a tweezer. Thanks much for the help, and if this is the worng forum, my apologies. |

Yes, this belongs in the Genius Bar.
I think you can install a notebook's slot-loading drive, though. They're around $70 from NewEgg. I saw three slot-loading Combo drives available there: Samsung Toshiba Lite-On Nu Panasonic I don't know if any of these will be natively supported by OS X, but you can check the drive compatibility database at www.xlr8yourmac.com to check. |

The Panasonic is the most likely to be compatible, since Apple uses that mechanism in PowerBooks.

I put a PC notebook DVD drive into my iMac 333 and it could use it (and play DVD's), but it can't boot off the drive
