I post a reply to a thread and the post appears, but then when I refresh or go back into the thread it is deleted.

Help!

Your post should show once you press the button to post the reply.

If you actually 'go back' in your browser, or refresh the current page it sometimes won't show. I have experienced that and it kind of makes sense.

The best way to check if your post is there is to re-enter the thread and go to the last page (of that thread) using the HTML links in the web site to do that. Try using the 'View Today's Posts' button, and then click back into the thread you participated in, and go to the last page. It will be there.

Of course if your post is awesomely bad then it may get eaten by the 'clean up really bad posts' bot.....

.. and this forum is not compatible with ZX81s or Spectrums.

Thanks Scratt. I have tried to re-enter the thread and checked Today's Posts but they have definitely been deleted. Not sure what the problem is but pretty sure my posts are informative, learned and witty (!) so won't have been deleted by admin...I may be wrong though...!

Maybe PM Brad and let him know about it. I am sure he'll pick it up in this thread at some point, but a polite PM may shed some more light.

It seems strange that you can post here and posts are going missing elsewhere.. Can you tell me which thread?

Yeah - it was on the September 18 Apple Store event thread in Speculation. Weirdly, I can post on threads at other times, as I have today in the Purchasing forum.

Are you sure you clicked on "Post"/"Submit" and not "Preview" or "Go Advanced"? If there's an edit window below your posting it didn't actually get posted but it's just the preview that you have to submit to actually post. If you can post here, you should be able to post in every forum (other than the Bazaar, perhaps, since you're a new member).

As a new member your posts are subject to the default spam filter. If something you type involves key words (PS3, save money etc.) it will sit in queue waiting for moderator approval. After a bit you should have enough posts the rule is no longer applied, and your previous posts will appear in their correct order once one of us approves them.

We started doing it when tons of new spam was showing up every day. It was faster/easier than hoping a mod or admin would be online every time a spammer showed up. Keeps the boards clean, but unfortunately sometimes new member's posts get caught up in the net.
