There's a free 13-minute "short" from Wes Anderson at the iTunes store, called "Hotel Chevalier", which acts as a companion piece/prologue to his upcoming "The Darjeeling Limited" movie with the usual suspects (Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, etc.). Personally, I'm a bit tired of these self-consciously quirky W.A. things, populated by over-the-top nutballs, achingly earnest acoustic pop during The Big Moments™ and young men with ironic mustaches (who, frankly, should know better).

It just all feels so "trying too hard" and "been there, done that...several times". And yes, I've seen all of his stuff, so I'm actually speaking from a genuine, legit perspective.

But hey, it's got Natalie Portman with nothing on but her socks...and she's got that sexy short hair going, which only adds to it. RAWWRRR x20.

iTunes Store. Free download (about 150mb).

You're welcome.

Oops, in my excitement I forgot to actually post the link. Sorry!

Anyway, being a Wes Anderson bit, I recommend you watch the 13-minute short with the sound muted.

If only she were still cute (Mars Attacks! timeframe) and knew how to act...

Yeah - I read about this a few days ago on Gruber's site.

I was actually thinking about making a post about it since I couldn't download it from the US store. Odd limitation - it is free after all.

Lighten up, Francis. She's cute as ever (maybe more so), and I'm not really worried about her acting.

She's one of those women (along with Annie Lennox and Joan Jett) who really pulls off the "close-cropped hair" thing, and looks better that way than with long, flowing Angelina Jolie locks.

Wasn't she like 12 or something in "Mars Attacks"?

EDIT: she was about 15 or so (1996 movie, probably filmed in 1995) and she was born in 1981...so 14-15 in that crazy flick. She looked younger.

Probably gets into international distribution and copyright issues. I don't know. It is weird though, but I don't know how all that stuff works.

You can use my account as long as you don't buy anything with it.

No, seriously, just a bogus address will do.

1981 vs. 1996… so, around 15. I'm not sure what that says about Eugene's taste.

The poor thing needs to eat a sandwich. All you really see is her butt (no complaints at all), but her ribs poke through, and she has this tiny, wispy body and this giant alien head (that scene where she's leaning against the furniture before he brings her the robe).

Still a babydoll, of course.

$5 says George Lucas downloads this and rethinks his Amidala scenes a bit...we're going to see future DVD releases of the prequel trilogies with some CGI Naboo butt, I think.

Thanks for the offer chucker - chucker@mac.com right? I tried namaste as the password but it didn't work.

I won't set up a fake account. If it makes it to the Aussie store, I'll pick it up then.

It's not that great. Typical W.A. Quirky, "nobody talks this way" dialogue, long moments of silence and lingering camera shots to accentuate the obvious, etc. The aforementioned music treatment and oddball actions. You see about six seconds of Natalie butt, and a standing shot of her entire bod but only her butt is exposed. But it's a joyless, flat 13 minutes. Isn't funny, isn't sad, isn't exciting and isn't dramatic. I'm not sure what it is, other than they had some film left over, and Portman and Schwartzman were available for a few hours?

...but it'll probably be on YouTube and all the other places by this evening, so you'll be able to catch it wherever.

I will say this...we, as viewers only see her butt. But I envy Jason Schwartzman like nobody's business because he was getting the "full effect", from his vantage point.

You have to think, at some point, the thought ran through his mind as he was sitting on the bed and she was standing in front of him, sans pants/panties, "My face is but 11 inches away from Natalie Portman's hoo-hah...don't look down, don't look directly at it...maintain eye contact...don't blow this...wait, what are my lines?"

I could never be an actor.

"CUT! Paul, will you please quit staring at Holly Hunter's ass and remember to hit your mark and say your line? Okay, take 137...ready...".

Schwartzman is a true artist, I suppose, unfazed by such things...

I didn't know about it until I launched the iTunes store this morning (I bought a $15 card last night and wanted to enter in my code) and saw the big ad for it (it rotates out, but it's the first one to show). I clicked on it and read the synopsis and watched the trailer. Then I Googled the title and found out more on some legit news sites, regarding the nudity and all (and they all made it sound like it was some outrageous thing).

But it's really not at all.

I knew about "The Darjeeling Limited" because I saw its trailer when I saw "Eastern Promises", so I was interested in a 13-minute "separate but connected" short/prologue (and then got really interested when the news stories I read all talked about her being naked some). I won't lie...

I figure it's on the sci-fi/movie geek/smutty video places by now?

And I bet aintitcool.com will devote an entire page to it before the day is over. They love their Natalie Portman over there.

It's been in the store for about a week now. They actually had the "premiere" in a few Apple Stores around the country last Wednesday. WA filmed it a few years back as a prequal to his Darjeeling Limited which comes out sometime soon. If you watch the credits, the subtitle is The Darjeeling Limited Part One. This short will also be bundled with Darjeeling as a "double feature." I don't know how it'll exactly tie in, as Natalie Portman's character is only credited with a cameo, but none-the-less it's been released to drum up hype for the new film.

That's why...I hadn't been to the iTunes Store in a while. It was all news to me (but I see where the news stories on it are dated September 28 or so, late last week). Guess I'm out of the loop!

I read that it was supposed to be in the movie, but cut into a separate thing.

I was wondering if it was older because she's got that really short hair from that SNL short (probably growning back from that Vendetta movie she did).

Makes sense now...

Yeah, the copyright at the end of the credits is 2005. Darjeeling Limited looks pretty quirky, typical Wes Anderson fair. It'll be worth a look once it's released, given that there's actually a theater in town that'll be showing it...

Would've been better if we'd seen a hint of fur or nipple but no complaints. For a Monday, you guys are kicking ass and taking names. We got Portman booty, Monkeysphere, Letterman outtakes at the expense of Paris... this place is platinum, baby!

Probably, followed immediately by the largest disappointment/letdown bouts of remorse ever.

It isn't that good or exciting, just some brief butt. Anyone expecting "full frontal" or whatever...don't.

I watched it seven times, just to make sure.

j/k...watched it once, and nearly went into a coma.

True. But it's free, HD, and Natalie Portman nude.

Really the last two would garner huge downloads, but make it free? Doesn't matter how terrible it is.

The gf pointed me to this a few days ago, but didn't watch it until now. Nice butt-cleavage, but looks a bit gaunt in the torso. In other news, I unfortunately saw the The Darjeeling Limited on Saturday; it left me underwhelmed and all I could muster was a tepid meh in response. But that's another thread...

Wes Anderson must die. His films are like if you let a retarded monkey and a religious zealot edit the script for and then shoot a Tarantino film.

I'm hoping he stops making films before I am driven to violence for the sake of ending his reign of suckness.

Wes Anderson has done what no one else has been able to for ages. Make Nick post in a thread that isn't about financing people in India. Or whatever.

I still have my ulterior motives. I'm afraid they will show Wes Anderson movies in India and mass suicides and murders will be the result.
