You're right- fun and charitable at the same time. This is an excellent idea.
How difficult are you finding it? What's the average vocab level you find yourself around? What part of our history's reinvented and under rug swept? What part of our memory is selective and tends to forget? |

Nice diversion. I'm not sure my 150 grains will fill too many bellies, but ...
I found a big difference between level 40 and 41: I seemed to cruise right along the former and get stumped each time in the latter. |

Yeah, but if you play for 5-10 minutes a day every day, you can help a lot. I didn't stop till 1000, and I plan to try to do this every day to help out.

I've been playing it for a few days.
You get a special message when you reach 10,000. |

It's too bad we can't register or something and track our cumulative totals. I know I've played 3 times today at different times, but there's no way for me to know how much I donated total unless I write it all down.

A back-of-the-envelope calculation suggests a 700-calorie meal of rice would require very roughly 7,000 grains of rice, so 10,000 is about a meal-and-a-half. Not bad for nothing, but you can understand why they're not panicking about the possibility of someone playing non-stop.
I got to level 50 with plenty of help from my little brother and sister. Speaking Portuguese, a Latin-based language, is a massive help for guessing when the going gets tough. When I play on my own I have to fight the huge urge to hit Command-Ctrl-D and I don't always win. ![]() Cool idea. |

I get up to 39-41, and then I drop down to like 37, and work my way back up again. I donated about 2k grains of rice.

I think this is going to be part of my daily regimen, along with Brain Age and Sudoku. And I think I'm going to pay special attention to the words I miss, and try to use them throughout the day. ![]() It's a great mental workout for a great cause. I think it's an awesome idea. |

I'm consistent at 45, but spikes up to 48, or down to 41.
But then, I like "words" rather a lot. |

Oh yeah, when I called out "you goobers" I meant that as in "you peanuts".
(It was an actual word I picked up from the www.freerice.com site.) |

Put in 1000 grains today. I was mostly around 37-38 with upper and lower limits at 35 and 41.
I think I spoke English once this year. Some tourist asked for directions. |
