Cox blocks port 25 on all it's residential services. If you are trying to connect to another mail server on port 25 it will fail.

You can either configure your iPhone to use Cox's SMTP of contact your mail host and find their alternate port for SMTP so you can stop using port 25.

If im not connect via WIFI it will not send outgoing email. I have not changed any of the settings in the account. Right now the outgoing server is "smtp.west.cox.net".

Yeah, I guess I assumed a lot in my first answer...how about more details about who your service is with and where the issues are. (EDGE, Friends WiFi, your own, etc.) Who's mail server are you using

Cox doesn't allow you to use their SMTP server if you aren't on Cox's network without authentication, if I recall correctly.

Edit: Seems Cox just doesn't allow it. That sucks

A. We do not currently offer this feature, but you can continue to use Cox WebMail to send and receive emails while away from your Cox High Speed Internet connection.

So is there a solution via different settings?

The only solution for you is to choose another mail provider like Gmail. Cox is pretty much the tightest I've seen when it comes to their mail servers.

That or VPN to your home and then sending email.

Did some searching and found the answer.

"If using EDGE (AT&T's data connection), you will need to change Outgoing SMTP Server setting to "cwmx.com" since Cox's Outgoing SMTP server will only work using local Cox IP address through their cable network."

Thanks for the effort though turtle. Im sure someone else will need that server information.

That'll work great....until you get home on your WiFi account unless "cwmx.com" offers another port other than 25 for SMTP. Now you'll face the issue I answered in my first post.

Here is a link to HowardForums about this very issue you are facing. The problem is Cox having such a strong stance against span.
