Hi all,
I've got the base model of the new iMac and have a friend who's also bought the same and is selling his stick of 1gb RAM (to upgrade to 4GB's). I'm going to be buying his stick of RAM from him, so that my iMac will be 2gb. Will this work ok? Both sticks should be the same, so I don't see any reason as to why it won't work. Thanks, Steve. Firstly you need to see how many cards are making up your 1 gig. Sometimes you get 2 512's in there. Go to apple, about this mac, more info and look under memory this will tell you how many slots are being used. If you've got room the RAM will just go in the empty slot. If not you can swap a 512 for a 1 gig card and have 1.5 gig and either sell the other one or keep it.
