Bucks kept it closer than I imagined. It was respectable.

LOVING Tate Forcier in the Maize and Blue! And how about Dan Lefevour and the Chips taking down Sparty? Great day for Michigan.

N0--only if the coaching staff calls a conservative game plan like that. There was nothing fancy about the game plan until the fourth quarter drive. Both Buckeye long passes came against backup strong safety when Taylor Mays (#2) went out. He is the only defender returning (USC Sent 10 last year to the NFL.) I suspect as the coaching staff gets more experienced with Barkley you will see them open it up more. And the defense will only get better throughout the season.

Strap on for Miami vs USC national championship.

Miami is going to lose to Georgia Tech next week. Right now it looks like Texas and Florida are going to cruise to the championship game.

I don't know...Alabama is looking good as well. They will definitely give FL a run for its money. USC does not look like a championship team. They are good, but not that good.

As for strength of schedule mentioned earlier. VT has one of the toughest this year: Alabama, Nebraska, Miami, Georgia Tech, BC, NC. Good to see they have a couple of great freshman running backs.

Yeah. UM pulled it out their ass, didn't they? I was in a bar where two ND fans actually became physically violent when the game ended. Good game.

Fucking Catholics.

And yeah, you know, good for Central. MSU needs a bitch-slapping once in a while, so while I'm not happy about the Spartans losing I think they needed it. They think they're UofM 5 years ago sometimes.

So it goes.

I really don't have that much against State's football program. Michigan has bigger rivals than MSU in football, and there just isn't much more that needs to be said about that. It's the other sports in which I hate State, namely in hockey. But I have family ties up at Central (and went to Alma just down the road for a year), so it's good to see the Chips pull out a big win.

Well, IMO Ohio State was WAY over-rated in the pre-season and the week 2 AP rankings. They lost 3 games last year and ended ranked 9 (which I think was high), then this year they almost lose to Navy and are somehow ranked #6?. I think there is a bias in the press for bumping up the early rankings for historic schools like SC and OS. It does affect TV ratings. USC's lackluster win over OS doesn't mean that much if OS is as mediocre as I think they are. Not a lot of points scored. For them to be in the National Championship, they have to beat Cal at Cal, ND at ND, Arizona State at Arizona State. I think they will lose one of those games but still win the Pac-10. It is still early though..

Well, yes, but there's a real chance at some point it could be MSU vs UM in the finals, if UM ever gets their shit together again (which they will). How fucking fun would that be? The lower peninsula would asplode, literally.

Michigan has the best teams of all time, ever. Just a fact.

If the Lions would stop sitting on each other's cocks I'd be thrilled.

So it goes.

Not sure what you mean by in the finals. UM-MSU wouldn't be statistically possible for a NCG in football. For hockey, definitely, but Michigan already has their shit together for that. And don't mind my chuckling at the Lions. I'm a Packers fan.

If the Rose Bowl is the finals, then how could they both be in it?

I'm stoked to see the double header of Nebraska vs Virginia Tech, and Texas vs Texas Tech. I have the lurking feeling that VT will annihilate the Cornhuskers, though I'm still hoping the Big Red wins. Being a Longhorn, obviously I want Texas to win, however I still thoroughly enjoyed last years game despite the fact they lost.

So, ah...who's watching this Fresno-Boise game? This is ridiculous. 82 85 combined points, both teams have over 400 yards, both teams have *multiple* 60+ yard TD runs, and the game isn't even over yet.

This game is insane. Such a good game to be watching. As of right now I'm glad I took Boise -8. I was sweating earlier for sure though when Mathews kept hitting those 60+ yd td's.

That was a pretty good game. I like watching the WAC. Boise has most of it's hard games behind them now except for maybe Tulsa or Hawaii. If they win out, you naturally will see them drift downward in the polls but they are a pretty scrappy outfit and are fun to watch as is Fresno. I love watching them Fresnecks....

My weekend Rooting:

Washington over USC (prayer of a chance...)
TT over T
Neb over Va Tech

Could not believe VT beat Neb...we did not deserve it...at least our offense didn't deserve it. We need a new offensive coordinator.

HELL of a college football Saturday. Upset that GD Notre Dame beat Michigan State...but man what great games today, even the Gophers gave Cal a run for their money.

I don't think it is that big of an upset. Washington usually plays pretty well at home and SC hasn't been looking that well this year. It doesn't compare to OS or Stanford losses. They lose so rarely that it seems like an upset when they do. What I think was flacky was how the Carroll made such a big deal with keeping his 1st string quarterback, who was out with a sore shoulder, warmed up on the side line and told everyone the day before that he would put the 2nd string in but he would make a game time decision whether or not to put the 1st stringer back in. So the 2nd string gets in with a LOT of pressure to perform otherwise he's replaced with the lame guy... This is SC's rebuilding year which for them means they will still probably win the Pac-10 but they are going to have a struggle...

UW was 0-12 last year. And they just beat the #3 team in the country. On my planet, that's a big friggin upset. What planet are you living on?

This. I don't think you can say that a team that is just a few games removed from a 12 game losing streak usually plays pretty well anywhere.

GW Field goal as time expires.

It's been a tough 4 years in the 'Cuse while Greg Robinson tanked the program. We've finally got a heart and soul former player as a HC and we are starting the comeback to prominence. Lets Go Orange!
