Hey everyone
I have a question that I hope is okay to ask in this chat, because I could not find any other chats that seemed right for this question It takes 8 min for my dual 1.8 G5 PowerMac to burn a DVD that is 13 min long, is that a long time for the computer to be burning a DVD. also if i burn DVD's that are longer then 13 min are they gonna take a longer time to burn? |

Anyway, 8 minutes to burn a 13 minute movie would imply that you're burning at 2x rather than the speed your G5's superdrive is rated for, which is probably 4x. Basically it comes down to what media you're using. What brand is it? Are you sure it's rated to burn at 4x or higher? DVD burners are a lot newer than CD burners and are a bit pickier about media. You can throw just about any 52x rated CD-R media into a 52x CD-R drive and have no problems, but if you have poor quality DVD-R media, you may get slow burn times like this. |

I am using Budget DVD's and my iMac G5's Superdrive writes at 2x, instead of 4x. (I don't remember the speed with the other DVD brands, but it always has been slow)
Why is this? My Apple Gear: iMac G5 1.8GHz 17'' + iPod photo 40GB + iPod shuffle (green) + BlackBook 2.4GHz Apple Communities: LiveJournal | Last.fm My sites: Glassjaw.net | HeadAutomatica.net |
