I do hope all of you are having a great Easter day.
![]() ![]() ![]() After being at church this morning I'm relaxing with my family and then to get some minecraft time in. I'm looking forward to heading to church tonight too but will enjoy this day to the fullest. I start my new job tomorrow so this is the end of my vacation. What are you doing today? We had 53 people in church today (a massive stadium tour turnout for that geriatric congregation). I'm blessed to have my folks alive and my Mom has made Easter lunch. Ham, potato salad, sweet potatoes, etc.

My plan was to stay in bed and feel superior to Christians all morning, but then someone was wrong on the Internet.
So now, I'm on my Mac mini, Minecrafting. But I hope everybody has a happy Easter/whatever pagan holiday was Easter before Easter was Easter/regular Sunday, as appropriate. ![]() cue the lights and dim the stars |

The wife is making home made chicken pot pie tonight. Not traditional Easter cookin' but it's damn good so I count myself a lucky, lucky man. Happy Easter everyone. Fat chance with this bunch of heathens but if anyone has figured out a way in their middle age to get motivated to attend church (more often than just Christmas and Easter because I refuse to be a Chreaster), let me know. I'm not averse to God and something bigger than us that we don't really understand, ![]() but I'm not a big fan of organized religion or especially churches full of Chreasters who "hedge their bets" ... just in case that will be enough to save them from the lake of lava and Zenu. But sometimes I feel like I'm missing out on the community aspect of it if nothing else. My neighborhood is full of people related to Larry the Cable guy and Kevin from the Office, so I actually consider church from time to time as a way to just meet some decent human beings (I don't mean decent in the moral sense, just ... you know, normal upstanding-yet-beer-drinking people to meet so I can hang out with them somewhere other than church). ![]() I'm in my office at my desk literally 9 or 10 hours a day in total, sometimes Saturdays so sorta cuts into my social opportunities. Just got back from my sister's, where it was my mom, me, sister and her husband, their two monkeys and my aunt and uncle. Ham, beans, potato salad, macaroni, rolls, banana pudding and apricot cake. And I brought home a leftover plate, so there's my dinner (or lunch tomorrow). The kids were wild, as always...

Thanks Turtle. It was a really nice day here. It was a beautiful service at Church this morning. The one we attend takes music very seriously, and Easter is the high point of the year, so the music was just beautiful. Both choirs were in full force, the organ was booming, and they brought in trumpets and drums. If you did not believe before that, you would after!! Wow.
It is too bad in a some ways that Easter is not recognized as the bigger holiday, as it is certainly the more theologically significant event in the Christian calendar. On the other hand, maybe that is a good thing, since it has avoided Easter becoming as commercialized as Christmas, preserving more of its religious character. The rest of the day was a very traditional family day. Usually we have guests on Easter, but this year we did not. It was just our family. That turned out to be just fine. We had a traditional leg of lamb dinner late in the afternoon, a walk, family games, and just some general relaxation. And three cups of coffee.... my wife and I had given up coffee for Lent. That turned out to be surprisingly difficult, so it with some pleasure that we were able to drink it again. ![]() Go softly on. |

I loved our Evening service at church. Our guest speaker was John Bevere and he had a great message.
We had the "Kids band" do a couple of songs too and that was just fun. Then they had an Easter Egg Drop for the kids after the service was over. Our kids had a blast getting the eggs dropped from the catwalks! Really a great time for all. ![]() Glad to hear others had a great Easter too!
