I think the thread title says it all.

I'm looking to buy a wireless card for the Wallstreet, and it already has Airport installed, so do I really need to get a Mac specific PCMCIA card, or can I buy an offbrand Wintel card and have it work?

Any card which is Broadcom based should work.

Linksys, Buffalo, Belkin, Sonnet...

I have a Lucent Orinoco Silver wireless card for mine. It's only officially supported in OS 9, but if you have a Wallstreet you should probably only be running OS 9 anyway. OS X is hideously slow on my Wallstreet. Also, there are apparently some open source drivers for that card for use in OS X, but I haven't tried them so I don't know how well they work.

The card should be VERY cheap on eBay. I sold an Orinoco Gold (same as Silver but better encryption) a year ago for something like $40. A Silver variant will not only be cheaper, but it's also more mainstream technology now so it should be just around $20 or maybe $30.

Today I was working on a Lombard (bronze keyboard) PB and it uses the Orinoco software with a Dell wireless B card. It works fine.

Even if the box in the store doesn't say that a product supports mac, you can never be sure. I would check all the manufacturers websites for specs/drivers. Linksys is a safe bet.
