The mini ships with (of course) mini-DVI to VGA.

The mini ships with DVI to VGA.
The 12PB ships with mini-DVI to VGA.

Why does that seem backwards?

How is that anything to be mad about, CptTripps? It's been years since Apple included a plain VGA out port on a Power Mac. I would have expected no different from this machine.
Because it's NOT the DVI-VGA that you THINK you need...

The one that comes with the Mini and the G5 doesn't work. I've got 23 minis, and 45 G5s...trust me...it's a different adaptor. I spent an hour this morning going to different computer stores, and nobody had one...

I plugged it into a 23" Cinema I yanked from a designer thats not in today...so now all my programmers are over there geeking out on the thing.

To clarify...

Most every Apple product ships with the DVI-I Dual Link interface. This box, has DVI-D Dual Link on the video card.

The difference is that this one has gates that won't allow the other adaptors to be plugged in...because they are different. One is digital, one is digital/analog. It's not as simple as just removing a few pins. (Tried that a few years ago...BAD idea!) Here is a pic of what I'm talking about...

Can anyone confirm if the transition system will drive the big Apple 30-inch Cinema Display? I've seen from other posts that it will work with the 23-inch one, but would like to make sure it will drive the 30-inch before I order one.

I don't think that it will drive the 30".

It works fine on my 23", but the tech specs of the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 say that its max resolution is 2048x1526 - smaller than the 30's 2560 x 1600 optimum resolution.

I'll try it today...I'm going to be at a place that has one. I'll let you know.

Be great if the 30" actually does work OK! I've found that graphics cards sometimes support resolutions not listed in their official specs.

I don't think you'll a 30" hooked up unless ATI and/or Nvidia release drivers for their cards.
