Well, in Japan they're used to paying an equivalent to about 5 US Dollars per song, so it was difficult for Apple to get them to lower it to a more iTunes-like pricing scheme.

That's what I heard anyway.

Thanks Undertaker. And the new Tokyo retail store is opening this weekend. It's great news for Apple. Important to be competing well with Sony on home turf.

Sony, bah...They aren't worth looking at. In Japan it's Samsung, Panasonic and flash MP3 players that you hang around your neck, and Japanese cell phones that do everything and make American cell phones look like well..crap.

I wouldn't be surprize to see iTunes mobile on every Japanese cell phone Steve can shove(program) it on...That is where you win Japan.

Certainly true - NTT DoCoMo has led the way in shopping via mobile telephone. But iTMS Japan, if successful, would be the first large scale online music store in Japan (Sony's is small - no doubt inter alia because they own a record label). Apple once again pioneering a market.

Yeah, I can see iPod mini sales going though the roof, and if the rumor of the Credit Card iPod mini is true, then that right there will seal the deal for Apple in Japan in the MP3 player war section and cement the success of iTunes Japan.
