Here's something totally out of left field.

http://www.ipodlinux.org/Doom

Not practical, but a proof-of-concept that sounds really cool...

random person: "Whatcha doing on your iPod?"
me: "Playing Doom..." (shifts attention back to game)
random person: "Sweeet."

You ask me for a hamburger.

as long as its not the 4th gen model and not a mini or U2 or Photo or Shuffle iPod. but i did read the latest nightly build does support them, although i havent been able to install it.

For other ipod owners its very easy to install ipodlinux, just use this GUI installer: http://ipodlinuxinstl.sourceforge.net/

portable: MacBook 2.4Ghz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD | personal: PowerMac G5 dual 2.3ghz, 6GB RAM, 6TB HD | work: MacBook Pro 2.5ghz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD | car: Alpine iDA-W407 with black iPod 80GB | pocket: iPhone 3GS with Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro's

i got linux onto my ipod photo, but they tell you (atleast a couple of weeks ago when i did it) that its completely unsupported. i did it the hard way, compiling my own bootstrap, toolchain, kernel and podzilla. there's a new podzilla, with an mpd backend, thats relatively tough to find (i think u have to ask one of the devs for the website). and although its not really stable, its better than the old one, b/c you can actually do stuff while music is playing.

Not just color graphing calculator, but even the ubiquitous TI-83! Click Me! I seem to recall playing a better (2-player) version on my TI-89, though.

Ooh, I have a TI-83. The screenshots look like crap though. Nevertheless, this shall prove to be a great boredom-buster in math next year. Much better than the lame Tetris I had last year.

Hey now, lets not say things about Tetris that we don't mean.

In spite of its age and relative simplicity as far as gaming goes, it's still one of the best out there.

Come waste your time with me

Just wait until you see some other cool things you can do with a TI-83.

Note: The friend of mine who figured this set of equations out is now at MIT. It just goes to show you, screwing around with your calculator during math class really can help you out in school.
