After the disappointing Apple Expo, I decided to just go ahead and order a 2.3GHz DP CTO. Partially since I wanted to use the student ipod discount which ended last Sunday, and partially since I need a machine by mid-October at the latest. So the PowerMac was supposed to ship 9/29, but today they just updated the site to say 10/6. But if you try to order a CTO config, the website still says 2-4 days. Hmm.... Maybe I'll be lucky and get an updated config instead. |

I ordered a CTO 2.0DP Powermac via Applestore a couple of weeks back. The following evening, I read the ThinkSecret report about dual-cores being imminent, so next day I called Apple Store and asked them to turn back the PM in transit or to give me an RMA so that I could return the 2.0DP as soon as it arrived.
When the agent asked why I was returning the machine before it had even reached me, I said I had heard rumours that dual-core machines were on the way and that it seemed sensible to hold off for a week or two. He replied: "Very sensible, sir." The returns process, btw, worked like a dream. They didn't even charge me a restocking or transit fee. |

Well, on the one hand I know that - that's why I ordered it. But I can't help but wonder what will be updated. I mean, if it's minor, I'll just harangue my online sales-rep (got his number) into giving me a rebate. If it's big... Well...
You can't tell me you wouldn't be feeling a little unhappy about this kind of situation if it were you in my place... ![]() Not like I'm expecting Dual-Core iMacs (too hot, no need) - but I've been speculationg they'd start using the low-power PPC 970 (is that the GX?) or maybe give it a minor speed-bump. Or both. Waaaah. Just e-mailed the sales guy - let's see what he says about cancelling and/or returns... But thanks for the pep-talk! Quidquid vis fieri, fac; facienda faciet nullus pro te. |

Arghhhh... so hard to wait for just 4 days. I need, I want, I can't stand waiting for this dual dual G5 !
Is it the calm before the storm ? the rumors about the G5 are quiet these last days... we are talking about mini, iBook, screens... Some tell that apple is going to update all its products before christmas... I just want to read a new post on TS that tell us the specifications of the PM which gonna be updated next Tuesday !!! Please ... make it true ! |

This morning I got an email from Apple saying that it would not ship until 10/13/05. There are a couple people on MacRumors who also got this email this morning an they also ordered the PowerMac, so could there be an update soon or are they just having peoblems getting parts. Here's what I got PowerMac Dual 2.3 G5 512gb ram. (adding 2gb when I get it all set up) 250gb hard drive Ati 9650 w/256 Airport Extreme card Airport Extreme Base Station Free Ipod 4gb mini (silver) Already got the Ipod and the base station, just waiting on the G5. |

Yeah I just checked my email and they just shipped it out. How does that 10 day price match work? Is it from the date of purchase or from the date it is shipped?
Can't wait unit I get my new dual 2.3. ![]() |

Price protection If Apple reduces the price on any product within 10 calendar days of shipment, you can request a refund or credit of the difference between the price you were charged and the current price. To receive the refund or credit you must contact Apple within 14 business days of shipment. |

Is it all just a fancy sweet dream about totally nothing, or
the reality in near future? Anyway, please count me in your boat. Resellers here in South Korea tell me there will no powermac update until the end of this year, but I think their purpose of so saying is just emptying their stock. The symptom slowly began here with some resellers lowering the desktop price by 5~10% including AppleCare. I hope you guys' future calculation won't turn out far from the reality. By the way, as you've mentioned, it's so so calm like the prelude of great typhoon forming near the Garden of Cupertino. |

I'm more intrested in saving some cash on the duel 2.7 Do you think it will come down in price or be removed completely. Will all the new Powermacs be duel core?
Actually I'm on the fence about the new ones. I'll have to see thier prices, with 50-80% more power...damn that would be nice for Logic 7. |

, but the 11th is nearer the 15th than the 4th and it could just turn out to be the 18th since that is closer to the 15th than the 11th. Hell, we could see updates every Tuesday this month: The 4th, 11th, 18th, and the 25th. Hell we could see nothing for all I know, but that I can't see happening; then again this is Apple we are talking about. Where is the needing a drink emote when I need one. Mile 1 |
