All right. I know there are some Firefly fans/Browncoats here but we all know what is happening tomorrow. (Sep 30th) So let's crawl out from under that rock and hear it.

Who is going to the movie and how many are you taking?

Me: Attending a 10:40 showing and taking 3 hostages.

^^ One more quality post from the desk of Ebby. ^^

My roommate and I will probably go, but we don't really have any sci-fi fan friends who won't be busy tomorrow night.

I've got the 4-disc series arriving tomorrow from Netflix so I can watch it through again before heading to the theatre. Probably on Sunday.

1 female hostage who gives me the: whenever I talk about how excited I am about this movie.

So it goes.

I'll be seeing it sometime tomorrow or on the weekend. We would have tried to catch a midnight showing, but the only one is down in Seattle, and the busses don't run that late.

I would really like to see it, but I want to watch the series first. And since I'm mostly broke right now, and also getting married next week, It's apt to be a little while before I get that chance.

Congrats (next week) on the marriage sledgehammer. I won't be seeing it tonight. My girlfriend's parents are out for the weekend and it's time to meet them for the first time. So we're going to dinner. Wish me luck...

I just got back. Wow, that was a good movie. The only problem is that they didn't have the TV show theme song as the end credits music.

And no, I won't spoil it either.

I just finished re-watching the firefly DVDs and I'll see Serenity on Sunday. Make sure you see it more than once, and drag everyone you know along with you -- If the movie does well enough there is a chance that they will revive the TV show (which, in my humble opinion, was the best TV series shown this millennium).

Not like this. Not like this...

Actually the latest rumor (if the movie is a success) is that they will make sequels to the movie rather than restart the TV series. Universal bought the rights so it is kinds up to them and they like movies.

I've only had the time to get through the first two DVDs, so I'll have to put the movie off for a few days or so.

But man, what an unbelievably great series. Fucking Fox.

So it goes.

I have it on good report that any further movies will be prequels, not sequels. Whedon wanted this to be 'the finale' in case no more movies ever got made - it's the capstone to the whole story of the series, and makes sure the fans of the series get some closure.

PM if you want to know why this is pretty firm, I can't really go into it without giving spoilers.

My other brain is hung like a horse too.

I left work early yesterday and saw the 3:50 show.
It was great.

What wasn't so great was the attendance. There was something like 30 people there and all of there were geeks. At least I felt at home.

I'm hoping to go again tomorrow. Just gotta find a babysitter.

A note on the attendance at the showing I went to: it was the 7:35 showing at one of the theaters in town (but not the only one), and it was totally packed. There may have been a couple of empty seats, but not more than a few.

There was a large geek audience there, though. You could tell because they would start laughing before the scenes from the trailer.

Ditto here - it was totally sold out.

Yeah, and they were laughing *AT* the trailer for DOOM. God does that look awful.

Everyone started laughing when the Doom trailer went into first-person mode. What really made the theater go crazy, though, was the chainsaw scene at the end. I think that movie is going to turn out to be a comedy, not an action movie. I need to make a post about this in the Doom movie thread...

And just to put this post back on topic, Serenity has a 79% on RottenTomatoes.com - that's pretty awesome.

Yeah, someone shouted at one point "Oh come on! *I* play better than *THAT*!" which sent the theatre into hysterics.

I haven't seen the finished movie though I did make it to one of the pre-screenings earlier this summer courtesy of a True Fan. I only ever saw one episode so I went into it almost entirely unaware of the setup. Afterwards I wrote an article about the pre-screening (sans spoilers) which somehow made the hit parade on a Jox Weston fan site. That article received several THOUSAND hits over the course of a weekend - and even one very nice letter from one of the show's fans. There's some passion for you.

I should go see the finished film and maybe post a real review. Even though I have little at stake I'd love to see the fans succeed in getting the word out about "their show".

I just finished watching every single episode of Firefly over the past three days. Dear lord that show was amazing. Why did I not know about it when it was on the air? I'm disappointed that I've run out of storyline I want more episodes!

I can't wait to go see the movie now! (I had wanted to watch the series first)

I thought the movie was really, really good. Now I'm getting the FireFly DVD's (never watched one episode).
