Is there a really large difference? How about performance? I could save five hundred bucks, but I want a kickass machine if I'm going to justify getting a 'Book instead of an iMac G5.

I'm probably not the most qualified to answer, but...

I'm pretty confident, performance wise, the iMac is the way to go.

Screen-wise, the 15" PowerBook has the 14" iBook soundly beat. It's brighter and has a much higher resolution, not to mention the wide aspect ratio. The iBooks can hold their own against the 12" "Power"Book, but against the higher models they just aren't as good.

For what it's worth, I think the gap between the iBook and the 15" PowerBook isn't as big as the gap between the 15" PowerBook and the iMac G5.

I'm torn between portability and power.
