1st Annual Murbot Crappy eBay Auction Bonanza

OK boys and Carol, I have a few items up for sale on eBay that I thought I would pass along. You know, because it would be like having the hand of god touch you to own some of my stuff.

(apologies to the other girls here, I know Carol's not alone, but that just sounded SO funny I had to put it in. OK, it's not that funny. Shut up.)

*ahem*

Let's begin.

Apple Pro Keyboard - Replacement Keys (black) (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=25444&item=5112425721)
It's still to early for me to talk about this without breaking down. I'm not about to cry myself to sleep AGAIN. Read the auction, someone is going to remodel their Pro Keyboard for a few bucks, and spend the rest of the year praising me.

Apple 4 pin to 6 pin FireWire Cable (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42160&item=5112812298)
It's for hooking your DV cam to your Mac, dumbass. Kicks the shit out of your garden variety black cables, because it's so non-black. Apple logos on it and everything. FREE SHIPPING IF ONE OF YOU DUDES WINS IT!!!

12" iBook Shipping Box (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=171&item=5112810169)
You know those stories you hear about people ordering new G4 iBooks, then they get it delivered, and the goddamn iBook is like GONE?! Well this is just like that, except it's totally cheap! I ended up with an extra box, so what the hell, eBay is crazy, I might get enough to buy some beer for it. Mint condition with the styrofoam inserts. I have some reasons for why someone might want/need one listed in the auction, so if you're a bit slow, click the link and read it. 2 WHITE APPLE STICKERS IF ONE OF YOU MOFOS WINS!!!*

*winner must also email me an audio clip of them singing part of AldoNova's "Fantasy"

128MB RAM - PC2100 SODIMM for iBook, PB (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11151&item=5112811502)
I can't think of why anyone would want this, but they sell on eBay all the time, so someone must have figured out a use for them. Well, I guess if you had a 12" PowerBook with a free slot you could use it. Or, if you had a G4 iBook with 128MB already in the free slot, and want to replace it with some murbot RAM so you can brag to your friends and shit, that'd work too. FREE SHIPPING FOR ALDO NOVA FANS

Sorry folks, that's it. Thanks, and good luck to all bidders!

What, no hockey sticks from the last game you scored a hat-trick? No tattered jersey worn by Ogie Oglethorpe? No life-size poster of the Molson Beer Girls? I'm worried man... all these items you're selling... they're perfectly normal auction items. I was sure there would at least be a couple copies of "The Chronicles of Murbot - Video Anthology Edition" up for grabs.

;)

I would have had 2 sticks to auction, but they've been cut down and they're holding my new Mountain Ash up in the back yard. Goddamn wind.

:)

What, no sympathy bid on the keys?

if nothing else, the auctions make for some good reading...

g

hey bot, when are you starting your AN front page column??

At least you don't live in Lethbridge.

What, no sympathy bid on the keys?

That would require the presence of "sympathy cash" in my wallet, in case I won the auction. Sadly I have not yet achieved that level of financial success this year. I barely got enough in there to hit the local burrito stop this weekend.

I'm thinking I gotta go after that RAM, so I can be the coolest kid on the block. I don't need it, but my girlfriend is in the market for a G4 iBook, and for what she'd use it for, she doesn't need a lot of RAM. Very tempting. :)

Bid on the keys and you'll have a friend for life.

Hey I bid on the keys, and believe it or not, I actually have a use for them.

My bid is $3.25 Canadian which is like what... $.66 American?

Hey Nick the quick. Haven't seen that name in a while. Now we just have to get Artman over here so there can be a resident Flyers fan to heckle. :)

That is, if Artman didn't get banned over there or something. I tried to send him a PM but it bounced it back to me saying he wasn't allowed to accept them or some such... pesky rules.

Hi Murbeau. :)

You are such a sweetie.

I'm not in the market for anything at the moment.

And besides, I'm still distracted by trying to picture you and that ceiling fan.

hahahaha

Love,

Carol

ok, i was about to say that i can't be outbid by trumpetman...but since he has an actual use for the keys and i just wanted to tape them to the back of frogs to spell out powerdoc and them explode them with firecrackers while filming the whole thing and then sending him an iMovie of it...i guess i won't bid again...

g

and bot might get me and dmb into a bidding war on that ram...my mom just got an iBook G4 with 256 of ram in one slot...she is not a power user, but an extra 128 for cheap might be nice for her

edit...hey bot, is that the original apple ram?

murbot
2004-07-31, 14:13
Woo hoo! Bidding wars! :D

Yeah, it's the original RAM that came in my 867MHz 12" PowerBook a while ago. I stuck it away with the intention of selling it, but just never got around to it. I think it'll like triple the speed of any laptop, at least.

DMBand0026
2004-07-31, 15:46
Anyone else find it funny that the thing that got the most bids is the keys? ;)

Bout that RAM...Murbot, I don't have the time now, but I'll PM you later so we might be able to see about not eBaying that and saving us both some time and money. If you wanna go through eBay, that's fine...I'll shoot you a PM later.

Doo-hoo-hoo-de. Can't do it. If there were no bids, maybe, but i think thegelding is the high bidder right now. Gotta let 'er run.

:)

Seriously though, what you both need to do is say to yourselves "that's MY RAM, no way is he winning it!!!"

Winning a bidding war is so gratifying. Try it, I'm totally serious.

I call BS, murbot. All these fill in the blank "of death" things you refer to... I don't think anyone has died during any of them. Has anyone died from your little eBay spree "of death" this time?

Liar.

What in the ding dang hell did you do wrong during your repair?

DMBand0026
2004-08-01, 01:22
I think the better question is, what didn't he do wrong during the repair? ;)

I think it might have had something to do with beer #12...or was that 13? Who knows...someone get me a beer...wait...what was I doing?

;)

probably didn't have the keyboard connected to the usb port of something simple like that....

"ok, 4 hours of work but that was the last screw put back in...now i just turn the keyboard over...push "any" key....nothing?? push key again...NOTHING!?!?....push many keys quickly....STILL NOTHING!!!!!! MURBOT SMASH!!!!!" all the while the keyboard isn't plug in and the usb cable hangs gently down the back of the computer desk....

Murbot....I have some twist ties from my powerbook. you think I can get you to sell those for me? i'll cut you in on the profit!

murbot
2004-08-01, 12:17
Actually, it's a buyers market right now on the twist ties. A real glut of them out there.

You hang onto those until just before MWSF and we'll talk.

Dang eBay...

Anyone have a SODIMM they wanna sell me? One that would work in an iBook G4?

Thanks. :(

murbot
2004-08-04, 12:37
What, did eBay snafu on your bid attempt?

DMBand0026
2004-08-04, 12:42
Yes sir it did.

I waited till the last minute, but I always do that when I bid. I hate bidding wars. So I started trying to bid about an hour ago and eBay didn't like that too much for some reason. Needless to say, I'm slightly disappointed.

Nothing I can't handle though, haha. I'll just see if I can find some more on eBay, and if I can't, off to Crucial I go. It was for the girlfriend's new computer. I was gonna be a hero, and I was even gonna tell her the legand of Murbot too.

thegelding
2004-08-04, 13:50
didn't need to wait for me, i let you know that i was at a computer that has no ebay access....

anyway, thanks bot, i will conclude the sale later today when i get out of this clinic
