Im about to buy the 12" pBook. And I have to ask weither i should get the 768 MB of RAM or pay top dollar for the 1.25 gb of RAM. Is there a big difference?

also im selling my ibook 12" G4 800MHZ. How much do you think i could get for it?

I'd recommend topping out the ram. If you ever want to upgrade in the future, you'll have to get rid of t5he old card. and if that future is a few years away, the ram might actually go up in price. Also it is better for resale value if you decide you want to sell it.

There's not a real big difference, but if you plan on keeping you PB for a while, you'll need 1.25 GB anyways. And like the previous person said, it's alot easier to just get 1.25 GB now.

Buy the RAM from a third party, not Apple. The latter tend to have high prices for their RAM compared to other vendors. A search on this site will bring up a few threads concerning third-party RAM sellers.

1. Keep your iBook for another month (if you can).

2. Buy the new $1999 MacBook Pro instead. Don't upgrade the RAM - just get a standard config.

3. Save your money for a few months.

4. When you can afford it, buy a 3rd party RAM upgrade for half (or less) than what Apple will charge.

Apple has a 1gb stick for 300 which I believe is competitive....

Apple has a 1gb stick for 300 which I believe is competitive....Is that for the iBook, or for the MacBook Pro?

Do what I did. Take one of those credit card offers you get non-stop in the mail that offer like 1 year no interest, take one of the checks that usually come with it and go up to the Apple store and have a blast You'll have a year of no interest to pay it off. That's what I did and even being in college, it was quite easy to pay off....just a suggestion. Best of luck on your selection.
