I ordered a MacBook Pro today, you should too. :P

Oh, and this thread will be moved to Purchasing Advice too, where it belongs.

If your a pro that needs the pro apps then maybe you'll want to stick to PowerBook. Apple pro apps just wont work, till the uni bin apps are out by March.

iLife 06 is full native uni bin though and if you can wait the 3 to 6 months for all the pro apps to go uni bin, then get MacBook.

It's not 3 to 6 months for the Apple pro apps - it's 2. Steve said March. So if you can wait 2 months and still use the MBP in the meantime (for the month you have it from mid-Feb to March) for other tasks, go with that. But otherwise I agree, if you need a laptop and have to run Pro apps now, obviously go with the PowerBook.

There are very few instances that anyone would get a Powerbook today
Someone doing video work and needing FW800 is one example.

But the performance increase of the MacBook over the PB is just so great that it's worth the purchase and wait.

Not so much with the iMacs. An iMac G5 is no slouch. The PB on the other hand is quite slow given it's FSB.

Software.

What about it?
As I said, it's worth the wait.
