Ok, so I'm sure that this type of thing has been posted before, but bear with me.

My old Canon clunked on me and now I am in the market for a mid-range digital camera.

Here are my restrictions:

4 to 6+ MP
fairly compact
3x or better optical zoom, but zoom isn't all that important to me
$350 or cheaper

I can look up stuff like this anywhere, but I am interested in your personal experience with a camera that you would recommend.

Thanks for helping me out! :)

I'd look at anything from Canon's line of cameras. I have a Powershot S50 that's great (I've since moved on to the Digital Rebel XT).

Try looking here. (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=search&Q=&a=157_7658&a=706_6213&a=706_6214&a=706_6215&a=820_7661&a=820_7662&a=820_7663&a=820_7664&mnp=0.0&mxp=0.0&Submit.x=5&Submit.y=14&Submit=Go&shs=&ci=1082&ac=)

You can't go wrong with Canons. Really good cameras for the money.

I've got a Sony DSC-W7 (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydscw7/) that I really like.
Basically a 7MP point and shoot with some limited manual controls. I've gotten quite good results with it and the battery life is amazing.

Thanks a lot for the help, I like the Canon Powershot A610 the best so far.

Fuji F10 or F11.

Probably the best images in a compact camera. It is fairly large, the outside edge of the compact range.

:)

I'm getting the A610 for my birthday in F ebruary. My Pentax kicked the bucket a few weeks ago.

:)I've owned two of the Powershot Axxx series cameras, and I think they're fantastic. This sounds like a very good choice.
