I really am under the impression this can't be done, but I doubt I might as well ask because it's something I'd like to do. Does anyone know how to make columns like you'd have in a newspaper? Obviously this isn't very difficult, but I want the text to wrap so that anything that would be cut off from the first column goes into the second.

Is this possible easily without playing with javascript?

That feature is in the working draft (http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/WD-css3-multicol-20010118/#content) for CSS3, but I don't think it's easily possible today.

I've seen a really cool news site with columns like that. I don't know if it was css and I can't even remember the name of it. But at the time I thought it was a very nice way to present a lot of text.

I've seen several sites that simulate flowing columns like a newspaper or magazine, but they don't actually implement them as you would think. The most recent example that comes to mind is the Insultingly Stupid Movie Physics (http://www.intuitor.com/moviephysics/) page.

Oh wow, that'll be awesome! Not sure why they didn't think of this before though.

Thanks guys, I didn't think it was really possible, I'll just go the fake route, which is good enough, I was just hoping there was a real way for future knowledge.

It's implemented by Gecko, not sure about Safari or IE(7).
