Apparently, there are approx 35,000 G5 2.5GHz on backorder.
Apparently, Apple is not able to get the chips in a timely order.

MacMall just called to tell me that it would be at or around the end of this year before I got mine if I ordered today.

That really really, really, really, really, really, really, really sucks.

I was also told the 2.5GHz G5 wouldn't boot unless it had one SATA drive hooked up as the boot disk. A level 2 tech told me that at MacMall.
Since that leaves room for only one more disk drive (without external cases or other modifications) to allow my ATTO UL4D and Seagate 15k.3 cheeta drives to work, I wanted to hear this from another source to verify that is correct.

I'm not gonna go into SATA vs Ultra 320 SCSI as it's not worth it. I have my reasons on the configuration I need.

Mainly, I thought you'd like to know about the delays. I think he said about a thousand units shipped. According to this guy the rest are going to be delayed considerably.

Can anyone else verify this to be fact?
Thank you very much
