So I was just at the Apple Refurbished Store, looking at the cinema displays when I noticed that Apple is intentionally misleading customers with the price differentials. Example:

Refurbished Apple Cinema HD Display (23-inch flat panel w/ aluminum enclosure)
Original price: $1,999.00
Your price: $1,099.00

Well, the SAME EXACT display retails in the Apple Store now for $1,299.00, not $1,999.00. Furthermore, with the education discount, the 23" display is $1,099.00, the same price as the refurbished. Seems like a bit of a rip-off, and some VERY misleading information on Apple's part.

Think the UK store at least points discount is off ORIGINAL price... doesn't take account age / revisions etc etc which might be more sensible

Yeah, same goes for the US store. It's based on the original price, regardless of age. So a 15" 1.5 GHz Combo PowerBook has the same $1999 original price as a 15" 1.67 GHz Superdrive PowerBook.

That is really weird. I wish education discounts worked on the refurb. displays, because like he says it is the same price as a new one with the education discount. There is no incentive for me to buy a refurb. Also, why are there not 20" refurb. cinema displays?

Always in motion is the Apple refurb inventory.

Haha. Ok. So if I keep watching one might appear?

Yes. They pretty regularly have 20" displays in the refurb section.

Good deal. How does a 20" look with a 20" iMac? Do they fit well together?

Do you mean in a functional sense or in a feng-shui sense? Functionally speaking, I'm sure it'd be a great setup, but stylistically, it'll look a little goofy: white iMac + metallic monitor = kinda fugly, IMO.

Yeah, that is what I suspected. Thanks for the advice!
