I've been using the "quick reply" box more frequently and I just noticed the above tooltip. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. I think it's for windows users. The proper tooltip would be ctrl+s for posting a quick reply. :)

Blame the folks at vBulletin.com for developing first for Windows IE. :p

Add that to the list of features that only work in MSIE... the advanced text edit box also only works in IE.

*shrug*

edit: whoops! looks like it does work when you use the ctrl key like you mentioned. D'oh! Maybe we'll go edit the templates to change that some time in the future.

It DOES work in Safari. You just have to use ctrl+s to get it to work.

So changing the tooltip on mouse hover over that button from "Alt-S" to "Ctrl+S" isn't going to happen? It can't be that hard....

I think it's because OW 5 uses the old webcore. These keyboard shortcuts are accessible by the accesskey attribute. I'm not sure when they were implemented. It's the mouseover that's wrong. All that needs to be done is to change this:

input type="submit" class="button" value="Post Quick Reply" accesskey="s" title="(Alt + S)"

to

input type="submit" class="button" value="Post Quick Reply" accesskey="s" title="(Ctrl + S)"

Knowing vB, yes is can!!

Then there is the fact that if every single instance of "alt - s" isn't tracked down and changed, you'll moan about inconsistency!!

Just file it away as "one of those things" and get on with something more useful - Like creating another iMac thread before the Expo starts! :smokey:

We'll do it when we get around to it :p It's not that it's hard, it's that we have better things to do than worry about fixing a tooltip currently.

Lazy bastards. I dropped working on my dissertation to help get this place up and running and you can't find the time to do a find and replace on a couple of files?

Just kidding. ;) I just figure it'd be about time that a Windows user had to figure what the hell their alternative key combo should be rather than us muddling with our keyboards. :)

And congratulations, looks like you figured it out ;)

Seriously though, we've been working on a style update on the test server, and when we roll that update out to the production server (this one) you'll probably see the change.
