I'd go for white, if only so that in case you want to get a MacBook, you won't feel obligated to spend $150 extra. Also, all the cables and headphones and accessories are white as well.

Ditto. In fact, since the BlackBook is matte, and the black iPods are glossy, you'll really never be able to match them.

Personally, it seems weird buying an iPod in anything but white, but if I could ever complete my iPod collection, I'd have a white iPod, a silver iPod mini, and a black iPod nano, so I'd have this cool gradient thing going on. :D

You can't see the click wheel from every angle and there are a million and one white ear buds out there that don't come with iPods. I don't use mine anyway cause they hurt my ears (they don't fit quite right).

I'm not saying nobody will steal your iPod if it's black, but the white ones are obviously iPods whereas the black ones, at a glance, could be one of any number of devices. Black iPods look like the remote from my stereo if you look at them from the right angle.
