After working with some Java UML tools, I have realized that an OS X native application would be wonderful... does anyone know of one?

OmniGraffle?

Eclipse (http://www.eclipse.org/) with the EclipseUML plugin from Omondo (http://www.omondo.com/).

edit: Oh, I think I misread your post.

Oh, uh. Are we talking UML modeling, or using existing UML models in an IDE? ;)

I use UML for communication with another dev, as well as a way to brainstorm. As such, integration with an IDE is really unimportant.

So, check out OmniGraffle (http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omnigraffle/). Not that cheap, but fairly powerful. Supports Visio too, in case your friend uses Windows.

Do Intel Macs ship with a free version of OmniGraffle? This PB has it (and it's registered, too), but I'll have a hard time justifying $80 for the gain over Java tools.

Seems they only include OmniOutliner, not OmniGraffle.

OmniGraffle is not a UML tool. You can fake it if you are already well versed in UML, but it is all roll your own. I think I have seen a third party OG UML template set, but that was a long time ago. [Taking a peek which I should have done before I see OG has the templates included, and better sets in the later versions. You still have to know UML decently to use them effectively though.]

And unfortunately I don't know of any native tools or anyone publicizing they are preparing to deliver one.
