I have never really been interested in purchasing a laptop before, as I don't really NEED one. However, after examining the new Macbooks in the 5th Ave. Apple Store, I do fancy one of the white ones. If I were to buy one without any build to order options and upgrade to a larger hard drive myself--to save myself the premium cost Apple would presumably charge--what should I look for? Will a standard laptop hard drive do, or are there specific brands/models/types I should look for? And, is Apple's bto price for a 120 gig drive--$225.00, I believe--significantly more than I would spend via a third party vendor, or is that more or less the going rate? If so, it might be more handy to have Apple to the upgrade.

Your thoughts are solicited and appreciated.

Thanks!

Search. Search. Search. There is a bar at the top of the screen that says "Search".

Here is one thread I found by searching. There are many others.

Yes, you could find a cheaper price than apple's.
