The permissions on my G5 are all screwed up for some reason and they are just getting worse. I'm not talking about one or two folders, but all kinds of anomalies. And no, I have not been tinkering with them. I ran disk utility and now running OnyX but nothing seems to fix it. I have to type a password to change the applications folder. Sometimes I can't save to the desktop. The shared folder in the user directory can only access files modified by that user. Windows do not remember their position or layouts. Now applications have stopped working. (mainly Toast, which I have never actually used)
Is the best way to fix this to copy the permissions by hand, one-by-one, from my laptop to my G5? Also, anyone know how this could have happened? Is is a common problem or just a fluke? :confused:
