Depending on some minor practical matters (where should really old iMac go), I'm in the market for a real screen to go with my pbook.

Use

+ normal browsing and emailing
+ textmate and TeXshop
+ Tinderbox
+ Photoshop

What do I need/want?

+ at least 19"
+ DVI
+ no speakers and other stuff on it

What are the doubts?

+ go for a regular 19" (1280 x 1024) or for something more towards widescreen
+ lots of pixels or color-accuracy? (both might be too expensive)

To me the specs of the Samsung 940BF syncmaster look good, but-as I said-I might want something wider.

Any suggestions about comparable and/or more widescreen like alternatives?

ps: buying will be in Euro-zone, and I am not planning to buy online, so prices might be higher than in US.

My advice is that if you're not buying online, take the monitor that looks best to you. The Samsungs tend to be good, but ultimately the best way of testing a monitor is by looking at it and seeing which one has the best color and contrast.
