View Full Version : 12": ibook vs powerbook
hi, i needed a little help.
i was debating between the 12" powerbook and the 12" ibook.
i really just need battery life, mostly...
SO my question is - which battery life is better? they say on the website 6 hours on the ibook 5 on the powerbook, but when it comes to real usage - like dvd playing just browsing and stuff...
when it comes down to it, does the powerbook suck up batt? cuz my 15" does...
thanks.
moo: If battery life is your primary concern, the iBook will win by a small margin (maybe about half the theoretical 1 hour difference).
You should also have a look at the iBook and PowerBook fora on MacNN. The differences between the 12" 'Books has been hashed out there in several threads.
I chose the PowerBook because of its video-out options, i.e. DVI-out and clamshell mode, because it came with AirPort and Bluetooth built-in, and because it is marginally smaller and lighter than the iBook (which I owned before).

Right now the 12" PB comes in 1.33 GHz and the soon to be discontinued 1.0 GHz... Do you get MacMall catalogs in the mail?

Yes.
And I get about 4 hours on my 12" PB under light usage.
4 hours light eh...

*slams 12" PowerBook shut*
Yup. Looks like it to me.
And I also get about 4 hours or a little more if I dim the display and am mostly just reading stuff online.
