So here's the deal. I won some money in a poker tournament, and I figure now's a good time to get a ram upgrade. Coincidentally, my friend recently got a MBP for college. However, he only has 512 mb of RAM in his. I have 2x512. I want to upgrade to two gigs eventually, but I figure I'd help out my buddy first by selling him one of my sticks, then buy a gig stick for myself.

I'm wondering if this is even doable. Can MBP's take two different kinds of RAM like that? I'm not even sure they are different. Both of our laptops have the stock Apple RAM.

I put it there because I was going to ask if we needed to purchase different RAM if they were in compatible.
