I hope this is the right place for this thread, feel free to move it, Mods, if not...

So here's the deal, I'm selling my 15" Powerbook G4 in preperation for getting a MBP (waiting till at least paris expo to buy, but I want to sell my PB now before it depreciates more).

I'm hoping I can get $1,800 for it, but it may be a futile hope. How much do you guys think this is worth? (specs follow)

15" Powerbook G4
1.5ghz proc with 1.5GB of ram (pc2700)
80GB 5400rpm HD
128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
1 Year remaining applecare
all original cables, 2 batteries, 2 power supplies.
some minor scuffs on case (mostly on bottom).

Thanks in advance for your help guys!

A refurb system on the Apple site with the same specs gets a little less than that, from what I have seen, but with the extra battery and power supply that might be about right.

$1200, no more...kinda sucks, but remember that PPC is going to be outdated soon, so people would rather spend $1500 on a MB or used MBP than a laptop. I've seen the 1.83 Core Duos go for $1500 on frey's before.

i think 1800 is too much. I don't think this is possible.

I agree fully.

Apple's refurbished prices are low. You can get a MacBook Pro (1.83 GHz, 15") for just $1549 from Apple's special deals section. That's a great price, and I don't think anyone would be willing to spend $1800 for a G4 PowerBook when they can get a newer, faster MacBook Pro for that little.

Luca: How much do you think I should eBay my iMac G5 (1.9 GHz, iSight, 17" display) for? It has AppleCare, which should hopefully make up for the fact that it only has 512MB of RAM.

I'm thinking $800, with a Buy it Now for $999. The BIN is optimistic, but Buy it Nows usually are.

hey, just wanted to say thanks for the advice guys, looks like Luca was right on the ball, got a couple offers for 1500, no more. Decided it wasnt worth it to sell right now, but thanks for the help!

I would have taken that $1500 if I were you. It's only going to drop more in value. But if you're happy with the powerbook (it's a very capable computer), you made the right decision. :)

I s'pose, but thinking about it, I dont really have the extra cash to spend on a new machine over and above the sale price right now (buying a car, which I need more than a new laptop). As you said, my PB is still a perfectly capable laptop. If I had another $1500 or so cash right now, you'd be right, but as is.... Sucks, really want an intel mac, the ability to more easily run VMs is a killer app for me, but just cant afford to right now :-(

well... I'd take out that 1 GB of RAM and sell it seperately, that's just me tho.
