Does any one even use a laser printer ?
after reviewing it some more Dell has a 3110cn that got a 9.0 on Cnet from staff and users that is in similar price range and is mac compatible.

Basically, just about any USB laser printer is Mac-compatible. I've used HP for a long time and been quite happy. I also own a Ricoh large format laser printer and like it quite a bit. I would read the reviews that are out there to find something you'll like. The perspective of a mac users group isn't really going to make a difference here.

Oh, printer. I thought he meant YAG for a moment....

We use HP ethernet Lasers at work and if you forego installing the driver, they work fine. The driver is much, much more trouble than it's worth.

At work:
All printers are networked.

We have some HP 9xxx series printers along with numerous 2xxx-4xxx printers and some big ass plotter. All are reliable as in they don't tend to break. The driver support is really bad (Mac and windows). For the printers that print in color, the color's look sharp and 'good'. We have found that HP and Toshiba promose the world with their higher end printers, but can rarely deliver on their promises.

We also have 2 Toshiba's (can't remember their series but they are big and expensive) and they are total crap. Nothing but problems. Even the Toshiba people can't make them work correctly.

At home:
I use a Brother hl-2070n laser printer. It is a fantastic monochrome printer for around $110.

I have heard a few good things about 2605dn, but I have never used on.

yeah the dell 3110cn is what im currently looking at right now for 374 shipped with 5k toner yeild for all colors installed
it had great reviews by cnet
the only thing is that you have to order the toners online rather than walk into office depot

i am currently depating a monochrome laser as every one has pointed me towards
just that to day is the last day dell has the 150$ off instant rebate

color might be nice for a presentation paper for school but it really isnt necessary i just thought id kill two birds with one stone

I'm pretty happy with my Samsung 550N, although it's not exactly a photo printer and time to first page is more than a minute. And it's big and like 70+ pounds.
What it does have though is networking, color and a duplex unit for printing on both sides of the paper.

I've had good experiences with HP (in particular, a LaserJet 1022). Conversely, I've had very bad experiences with Samsung — unreliable, slow, and with truly shithouse driver support.
