An article here (http://cbs.marketwatch.com/news/story.asp?guid=%7B0AC2A6F3%2D224E%2D408E%2D97BE%2D 6C34B6681C93%7D&siteid=mktw&) says Apple and HP plan to ship a million iPods a month starting in October. Whew! Hopefully that'll be enough for Christmas.

I was thinking of selling my stock when it gets to 39, but that at this point would seem early.

But the question is: Can the market really absorb this number of iPod?

Considering Apple couldn't sate the demand for iPod minis in the US for a few months, then I'd say probably. 1 million iPods = 1 iPod for 0.000166667% of the world's population (6 billion). Heck, cut that in half to take into account people who just couldn't afford an iPod and you're still looking at 1 iPod for 0.0003% of the world, per month.

Heck with the right marketing, they could probably sell that many in North America. Although I'd imagine the market is going to get sated at some point soon. iPods aren't something you replace as often as even a computer I would imagine.

Well I'm buying my girlfriend a iPod mini and I'll eventually grab a larger iPod sometime next summer. I think iPod sales should be hot this christmas.

KPMG (some huge consulting firm) just gave all their employees iPods. No reason other than to make their employees love them. I guess that one company not buying into the FUD around iPods and security.

Add me to the list of iPod owners as of today. My wife surprised me with a 20GB model. She knows that I have been waiting for a colour screen model - and I had no interest in a "larger-sized" iPod - but since we are both going to live in China for three years and have been advised not to bring our CDs over as luggage, she thought this would be a perfect gift for us to share! She even had the foresight to say "and when the colour model gets released, you can give this one to me!" ... that is just too darned cute! :)
